Technical Product Owner – eCommerce Job with DYSON INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY

In Business Application Services, we have end-to-end responsibility for the design, delivery and support of all business applications that enable Dysons’ global business, operational and business process. Forming a large part of the IT function, the Business Application Services team is aligned with investment areas including Owner Experience and Retail, Engineering Operations, and Enterprise Applications. Our role in the DevOps practice is to deliver high-performing IT systems that meet both the demand and the pace of our growing global business.

The role

The Application Development practice works closely with business analysts, delivery managers, strategic partners, and third-party vendors to proactively create, manage, and maintain software solutions for the global IT application portfolio. In the role of Technical Product Owner for our e-commerce platforms, your responsibilities will include:

  • Work with business analysts to define and approve the scope and acceptance criteria for epics and user stories
  • Proactively manage multiple technology-focused backlogs for application development, development operations, and release/service management
  • Work with delivery leads/teams to ensure end-to-end delivery of technical enhancements and features, including participation in daily SCRUM ceremonies
  • Collaboratively support and improve DevOps and application delivery
  • Work with other product owners, technical architects, strategic partners and third parties, as appropriate, to define, implement and manage product development architectural designs and application roadmaps
  • Work with strategic partners and third parties to understand future trends, innovation and opportunities for the e-commerce application landscape
  • Act as the platform authority with IT and business stakeholders to ensure compliance with technical principles, design governance, and delivery practices working methods
  • Identify gaps in platform capabilities and work proactively to influence IT/business budget owners and decision makers on appropriate actions to address
  • Provide guidance to IT management, key stakeholders, and other colleagues as needed to maximize the value of the platform architecture
  • Communicate and influence product development platform decisions with key stakeholders to ensure architectural considerations and requirements are correct for the solution
  • Provide technical understanding and information on the construction and capability of Dyson’s e-commerce platforms
  • Work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to coordinate the implementation of platform designs and technical changes
  • Proactively manage technical debt reduction across Dysons E-Commerce platforms – including creating technical user stories and aligning/prioritizing them with RDD and Sales team Product Owners for delivery by the development
  • Act as an ambassador with IT and business stakeholders for joint stewardship of the robustness and maturity of Dysons platforms

  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and influencing skills
  • Enthusiastic advocate for change and innovation in business
  • Leadership ability to prioritize and manage technical changes
  • Technical design experience on e-commerce platforms, including performance and security requirements
  • Experience developing/delivering software on e-commerce platforms
  • Experience implementing and developing a technical strategy
  • Ability to influence others and communicate with impact at higher levels of the organization
  • Ability to lead the resolution of service risks through a range of internal and external resources
  • Ability to structure and implement organizational processes, procedures and knowledge retention
  • Ability to produce meaningful top level reports on status, trends and performance
  • Experience with project and software delivery methodologies/approaches/techniques – not limited to, but including – Agile/SCRUM/SAFE/DSDM/DevSecOps
  • Proven experience working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • Experience with AEM or SAP Commerce Cloud / Hybris
  • DevOps delivery experience
  • Experience with AWS cloud solutions
  • Experience with advanced Excel, Visio, Sharepoint, Teams
  • Experience with key tools – including Confluence / Jira
  • Experience in continuous delivery through agile design, development and testing.
