The enterprise architecture team is currently helping the University implement the new technology strategy and needs a solutions architect. This role will be offered as a three-year fixed-term contract.

The solution architecture team is responsible for the design and sometimes the end-to-end development of new solutions (including requirements engineering). They are responsible for maintaining the University’s architectural policies, principles and standards. They provide quality assurance and act as the design authority for new technologies and business solutions. Additionally, they develop and maintain the Architectural Repository, which contains plans and roadmaps for the University’s critical technology solutions.

Working within the EA team, this role will play a crucial role in the development of an innovation pipeline where new ideas would be explored and proof of concepts would be managed. Additionally, this role will help improve and develop digital capabilities to enhance the staff and student experience.

  • Innovation Pipeline Service Owner
  • Research new technologies and explore their relevance to the University
  • Discuss digital plans with senior executives to understand organizational needs
  • Create and maintain the technical roadmap to deliver the digital platform
  • Develop and maintain architectural plans, target operating models and roadmaps
  • Develop architectural policies, principles and standards and ensure technical teams adhere to them
  • Design authority for new solutions and services
  • Take full responsibility for the specification, design and quality assurance of new solutions
  • Agree on solution scope, determine and recommend an end-to-end solution design that enables the desired business outcome
  • Ensure that all necessary architecture artifacts are consistently created at the right time
  • Monitors technical progress, informing project management of major technical issues and making recommendations on their resolution

Contribute to the bidding process and product selection and lead technical conversations with vendors.

Personal Specification:

  • A good understanding of the higher education sector is desirable
  • Experience in Microsoft 365 and Power Platform is desirable
  • Experience in different fields of architecture
  • Experience working on a digital transformation program
  • Experience working in hybrid cloud, multi-vendor, complex architecture
  • Experience working on end-to-end development of bespoke solutions
  • Experience in the areas of application and integration architecture
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Good stakeholder management at all levels
