  • Imperial’s Logistics Africa business is South Africa’s leading logistics provider and one of the largest on the African continent, providing contract logistics, road freight and master logistics provider solutions.
  • Imperial Logistics International, headquartered in Duisburg, Germany, is responsible for all Group logistics activities (including contract logistics and freight) outside of Africa.
  • Imperial’s Market Access business develops complex market access solutions that provide constituents with access to patients and consumers across Africa through comprehensive channel strategies that integrate supply, sales, demand generation, distribution, marketing and promotions.

Job function

Responsible for the overall management and successful delivery of multiple high complexity strategic and operational projects ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget and in accordance with agreed quality requirements, contributing to client satisfaction / customer, optimal profitability, risk reduction and compliance with regulations and legislative requirements. Coordinate and manage relevant activities across all project streams and interface with relevant internal and/or external stakeholders.

Key performance areas:

  • Formulate long-term project/program plans that include milestones and priorities to achieve project/operational goals. (3 – 12 months)
  • Lead and participate in the resolution of projects
  • Manage project risks and risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Implement rigorous project and program governance processes
  • Monitor and report progress against operational plans and adjust as necessary.
  • Define project and program standard operating procedures and implement and manage end-to-end processes
  • Create an engaging, empowering and productive work environment aligned with the employee value proposition by demonstrating leadership through a personal commitment to organizational values.
  • Define, manage, monitor and report budget variances to maximize financial performance.
  • Plan, manage and monitor initiatives to ensure project delivery and customer service excellence.
  • Plan, supervise and lead projects from ideation to completion.
  • Interact with a range of internal and external stakeholders and manage multiple moving parts of the project simultaneously.
  • Create a detailed project management plan and other project documents and guide incoming and outgoing project files.
  • Provide solutions to problems related to the project.
  • Set strategic direction for all projects, define project scope and set milestones and deadlines.
  • Review end-to-end business processes to identify and address operational, financial, and technology risks.
  • Develop business cases, prepare profit and loss analyzes and design new models as part of project selection and continuous improvement.
  • Manage and write reports and manage key dashboards
  • Develop the RACI business unit, allocating appropriate levels of authority and responsibility for project activities

Minimum qualifications:

  • Specialized diploma (NQF level 8)
  • Certification in project management (PPM, Prince2, Agile, etc.)

Minimum skills and experience:

  • Up to 8 years of project management experience, with at least 5 years of leadership/specialist experience.
  • Knowledge of ERP/SAP implementation would be beneficial

Technical skills :

  • Proven program and project management knowledge and/or skills
  • Experienced knowledge and/or skills in project evaluation
  • Proven knowledge and/or skills in financial control and project reporting
  • Seasoned business knowledge and/or skills
  • Advanced stakeholder management knowledge and/or skills
  • Knowledge of budgeting and cost management
  • Knowledge and/or skills in managing IT programs and projects
  • Knowledge and/or seasoned skills in stakeholder management
