Project Manager (Remittance – Fintech/Finance/Banking)

  • The Remittance Project Manager is in charge of the implementation of Fintech remittance projects.
  • In the Fintech space, remittances is a vertical business that allows users to send or receive money internationally using their wallet.
  • There are predefined projects that will deliver, through partnerships, new services for end users to be launched by the company.

Experience required

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in Fintech/Financial Services/Banking Project Management or Product Management or Program Management
  • Total experience of at least 8 years
  • Experience managing specific remittance products/services is advantageous
  • Understanding of the Fintech ecosystem, players, business models and best practices related to the financial sector or the banking industry
  • Experience with Agile delivery and development operations frameworks
  • Work experience in a medium to large organization
  • Experience with Scrum and Agile software development methodology
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, autonomy and ability to motivate a dynamic team
  • Understanding emerging markets is beneficial
  • The pan-African multicultural experience is advantageous
  • On the lookout for local and global best practices
  • Knowledge of payment schemes, integration with payment partners, API integration, API orchestration is a plus

  • 4-year degree in Computer Science/Statistics/Mathematics/Engineering (or related)
  • A Masters in Business Administration is advantageous
  • Formal certification in Project Management / PMP / Digital Product Management / Product Owner, Agile Delivery, User Experience, or other relevant areas would be beneficial

ResponsibilitiesDefinition of the project plan

  • Understand the full scope of assigned projects
  • Liaise with each unit to understand all aspects of the projects, prerequisites, deliveries, dependencies and results o Identify all necessary resources (human, technological, time…)

Operational delivery

  • Lead and manage assigned projects
  • Balancing business, technology and design priorities to deliver the final product
  • Work with the Product Owner to convert the vision into a level of detail required for the project scope
  • Implement, through the partner units and external partners and the company, the actions necessary for the project, from the commercial analysis to the technical feasibility study until the market launch in the company
  • Attend evaluation meetings on technical feasibility of bids (e.g. feasibility study)
  • Act as an interface between the various stakeholders and ensure a robust implementation of projects while respecting deadlines and delivery quality standards
  • Develop and provide periodic reports outlining the status of implementation
  • Build or correct the reporting in the company
  • Accountable through partner units to deliver product design, contract, business model, business plan, GTM, process, systems, partnerships and implementation with business
  • Support the company (as needed) in the implementation of projects in the company


  • Strategy meetings

    • Relevant budget request for internal projects and new initiatives
    • Facilitate the preparation of proposals on change initiatives, policies and procedures
  • Climbing
    • Manage and resolve escalations that impact the service delivery critical path
    • Escalate issues that will cause a significant impact on time, scope, productivity and cost, resources or reputation
    • Manage and provide solutions to escalations that impact multiple processes/functions on the service delivery critical path
    • Manage and provide solutions through stakeholder consultation as appropriate
  • Tactical Function
    • Periodically report on all initiated projects (internal or global)
    • Input on sub-function objectives, targets and budgets, if applicable
    • Develop and monitor key risks, issues and dependencies and define mitigation measures
    • Facilitate approval/decision making on tactical changes
  • Reports
    • Report periodically to management on progress within the function and in accordance with metrics established by the organization
    • Report on specific projects, as needed
  • budgets
    • Contribution to functional budgets in line with the projects to be delivered
    • Ensure that the cost of operations is reduced, in line with a least cost operating strategy driven by business factors
