We are looking for a project manager to join our team now. The primary role of the position is to manage custom manufacturing projects from the project integration phase through installation by coordinating with customers, suppliers, contractors and personnel to successfully complete project deliverables according to milestones and urgent deadlines. Depending on the size of the project and staffing, candidates may also be responsible for 3D modeling and drafting shop drawings and production drawings, as well as delegating these tasks to others. Additional duties include product/material sourcing, general team management and manufacturing oversight. Prior experience in a manufacturing or custom build environment is required.
On a day-to-day basis, the person in this role will manage and delegate tasks to the project team, as well as coordination with the client and external parties. Since our business creates physical objects, this position primarily requires an on-site (non-remote) presence, although a limited amount of remote work is possible. Note that this is not the work of an architectural designer.
Bachelor’s degree in architecture or related field.
4-7 years of experience in Architecture, Engineering, Construction (AEC) or related fields.
Demonstrated leadership qualities (eg communication skills, ability to delegate, etc.); previous experience in leading teams preferred.
Ability to read/understand construction/shop drawings.
Proficiency in the following general computer software and applications:
Google Workspace, Drive, Docs, Slides, Sheets, Mail and other Google apps
Adobe Creative Cloud Suite
Advanced proficiency in Rhino 3D and other CAD software preferred.
Knowledge of Grasshopper is a plus
Knowledge of shop math and ability to work with shop tools preferred.
SITU offers great benefits, reasonable working hours and the ability to support creative and thoughtful projects in a shop/studio environment. Benefits include employer health (including two fully funded options), dental, vision, life and long-term disability plans, One Medical membership, two weeks paid vacation and others perks like subsidized CitiBike memberships and deeply discounted parking passes through the Brooklyn Arsenal. After one year of employment, you can contribute to a 401(k) plan through the company, and SITU will match your contributions, dollar for dollar, up to 4% of your annual salary.
Remuneration according to experience.
We don’t know you yet, but we imagine you have a wide range of interests and skills, and wouldn’t be happy to focus on just one. You have worked in an AEC-related field for at least five years and are looking for a company that you will be passionate about.
At your core, you are a creative problem solver who knows how to apply your vast knowledge and skills to new and unfamiliar challenges. You have a keen sense of organization, communication and time management. You have a passion for craftsmanship and materials, so you like to imagine and experiment on the fly, but you also strive to systematize workflows whenever appropriate. You are a team player who can easily reprioritize work across multiple projects, delegate when necessary, and know how to balance work independently while knowing when to ask for help.
SITU is an unconventional architecture practice using design, research and fabrication for creative and social impact. The company was founded in 2005, in Brooklyn, New York, by four friends studying architecture at the Cooper Union. We have shaped our practice from the multidisciplinary style of our upbringing and have grown up working with clients who appreciate a progressive approach to problem solving. We now employ a team of over 35 people.
Our process is client-specific, adaptive and guided by a diversity of in-depth knowledge, independent of any stylistic or formal agenda. This allows us to work outside of boundaries, using new architecture tools to generate unique results.
Our practice is made up of three divisions – Studio, Research and Manufacturing – which work collaboratively while providing individual services. This keeps prototyping, research and development, and hands-on craftsmanship at the heart of our creative process.
SITU is committed to diversity, equity and inclusivity in the workplace and beyond. We encourage all our employees to bring their original, authentic and multifaceted identity to the company. As an equal opportunity employer, we do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, sex, ancestry, citizenship, mental or physical disability, genetic information, sexual orientation, veteran status or military status. We strongly encourage all qualified candidates to apply.
