We are an architectural studio specializing in multi-family and mixed-use housing with extensive experience in publicly funded housing in the City of Los Angeles. Job Title: Project Architect

More than 12 years of experience in multi-family and mixed housing; especially in the City and County of Los Angeles, CA. Experience in designing affordable housing is a plus.

Summary of work

Project Architect is a licensed professional who oversees the design development of a project in conjunction with the studio manager as well as the production of construction documents. This person oversees the construction administration of a project.

Although this is a team effort, the PA is heavily relied upon to ensure the quality, accuracy and professionalism of service instruments and facilitation of the final architectural product. Knowledge of code is also crucial, along with the ability to lead a team of architects and designers, communicate well, and master a wide range of software.

responsibilities and duties

Ability to provide test fit/pre-design studies for multi-family projects in the city of Los Angeles (good understanding of local zoning codes)

Strong design capabilities that meet the company’s design approach and mission

Ability to create a program and translate it into a sensible conceptual design

Responsible for accuracy of design and documents

Responsible for ensuring that the shift manager has properly implemented all customer expectations and code requirements

Responsible for planning and personnel. Determine what is required for delivery / project submissions and determine how to deliver them on time by exceeding expectations

Responsible for maintaining the accuracy of project data through document reviews

Principal decision maker with regards to good execution in design development, carrying the intent through documentation considering constructability and detail ensuring the design in intent is maintained with rigor

Responsible for project design details and their creation

Responsible for ensuring that documentation meets design intent, office standards, providing the ideal information to ensure proper execution by GC.

Redline documents for the position captain and the rest of the team

Organize design team meetings (consultant coordination)

Ability to accurately produce meeting minutes or edit meeting minutes that maintain the standard of office professionalism

Ultimately responsible for coordinating consultants

Strong mentoring abilities to help develop designers

Responsible for enforcing office standards and protocols

Responsible for material selection, product research, pricing and integration into documents

Full understanding of the agency approval process and ability to assist in the process when needed to resolve the most complicated situations.

CALIFORNIA:

Responsible for planning design through to construction via site observations, i.e. the ability to detect construction errors early on

Review RFIs and submissions with Labor Captain

Qualifications and skills

Experienced architect with over 12 years of experience leading small to large mixed-use, market-rate and affordable residential projects from conceptual design to construction administration

Strong portfolio reflecting vision and attention to detail

Strong graphic, organizational and communication skills

Must demonstrate a high level of commitment and integrity with clients and colleagues

Must have good construction detail abilities

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within the project team

Master the use of Revit

Experience working with different jurisdictional agencies, especially LA City

Experience implementing zoning, planning and building codes and standards

Familiar with CTCAC, LACDA, LAHCID funding requirements and desired application processes

California Licensed Architect

Salary: Depending on experience and skills, the position is full-time with benefits (100% paid health insurance, dental and optical care, 401K matching and profit sharing). Applicants must be currently legal to work in the United States and immediately available.
