Here at North Yorkshire County Council, our Technology and Change (T&C) department plays a vital role in improving and developing services across the Council for the benefit of our customers and staff.
Our Technology Services are the technical and service delivery arm of T&C; underpinning the entire council and some of its partners’ services. The objective of the Enterprise Systems Team (CST) is to develop, improve, administer and support key management information systems, aligning the current and future needs of the organization and of its customers on the right technology and ensuring that they are delivered to the agreed standard.
We are looking for a Product Owner – Customer Systems to join our team. You will lead a team of technology professionals developing, supporting and delivering products with a focus on delivering CRM management systems and services, which support business processes and workflows across the board consulting and services, both internally and externally.
Working with the Service Owner, you will be responsible for ensuring that products meet current and future business needs. Guide the development of features through the complete phases of design, implementation, testing, deployment, maintenance and improvement with the goal of making the Council’s services simpler, easier and faster to use. You will design and iterate the product roadmap and backlog, champion user needs, document product knowledge, and communicate plans and progress through various channels including social media (e.g., Yammer), stakeholder meetings, and demos.
As a Team Leader, you will act as the capacity resource manager for your team, ensuring the effective operation of key management information systems and managing the end-to-end aspects of IT service management for products in your portfolio. By promoting adherence to established ISO 20000 service management practices and updating product documentation, you will ensure that the products and services provided meet the needs of the service and its users and are delivered at service levels agreed and achievable.
To be successful in this role, you will need a good understanding of IT service management as well as experience in customer engagement and vendor management. You will also need excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, as well as an ability to influence, negotiate and solve problems. We are also looking for someone who has a keen eye on process optimization and automation, systems management and IT support.
Ideally we are looking for someone with ITIL V4 Foundation but this is not essential as long as you hold a professional or equivalent qualification in the relevant specialty. This is a fantastic opportunity for technology professionals looking to advance their careers in IT management and leadership, with opportunities to work on projects following Agile and Prince 2 methodologies. For a detailed overview of the role, please see the attached job description.
As an organization, we strongly believe in promoting work-life balance, with flexible work opportunities and modern technology. You’ll benefit from a hybrid working style with the flexibility to work from home and the office when needed. You will have access to great benefits through our benefits program for everyone, such as discounts on purchases, home technology and salary sacrifice programs for green cars, financial well-being and insured health and our employee assistance program to help you improve your health and well-being. You will also have access to our Local Government Pension Scheme, a generous plan for your retirement with the option to increase your monthly contribution if you wish.
