This Senior Systems Engineer will provide global leadership in systems engineering on system controller developments for the entire Thermo King product line. The position will be located in our Minneapolis office and will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the development team has clear requirements and oversee the development specifications that we provide to our global development teams.

The successful candidate will also work with the product and platform management group, software and hardware teams, and third parties to define and deliver product developments.

The ideal candidate will take an active role in the product development process to ensure product performance and quality for our customers and will have experience working in a technical development environment with Phase Gate and Agile development methodologies. The candidate must have demonstrated the ability to actively listen, integrate contributions from various sources and successfully translate these requirements into consistent specifications.

Core job responsibilities (others can be added):

  • Provide global technical support for control systems for Thermo Kings’ line of refrigeration and HVAC products.

  • Coordinates internal and external efforts for electronics and software design projects to ensure product and customer requirements are captured, specifications are documented, necessary milestones are identified and project schedules are met.

  • Collaborate with product management, project management and platform teams to ensure new products perform as needed

  • Develop and improve process flow and information communication tools throughout the new product development process.

  • Lead the team that ensures the technical performance of the solution meets end user requirements.

  • Develop cross-functional leadership and beneficial relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Lead lifecycle projects as needed to update product performance

Secondary responsibilities:

  • Maintain and improve internal systems engineering processes.

  • Work closely with development teams to ensure development incorporates key FMEAs and design for service and testability.

Minimum skills:

Key skills:

  • An understanding of refrigeration, transportation, off-road farming, construction or HVAC equipment is a plus.

  • Qualified candidates will be motivating thought leaders, motivated individuals, and possess business acumen coupled with a solid working knowledge of hardware and software controller implementations.

  • Hands-on experience with the Embedded Controller development lifecycle, i.e. requirements, design, implementation, integration testing, deployment, and post-production support is a more.

  • Ability to quickly prioritize issues / requests and be able to dive personally in depth when needed to deliver solutions in an accelerated timeframe.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, listening and information skills. Can communicate from top to bottom and across the organization.

  • Works collaboratively, elevates team results over individual results.

  • Experience in designing and supporting controller solutions

  • Experience with Agile in a product development culture and practices.

  • Experience working with offshore development groups
