Man Utd fans beg new Twitter owner Elon Musk to buy club with £4billion in ‘pocket money’

Manchester United fans have begged Elon Musk to buy their club after the billionaire finally agreed a £34.5 billion takeover deal from Twitter.

Musk had his initial offer rebuffed by the company but made progress this week – and he’s now making headlines. The Tesla CEO said Twitter has “tremendous potential” it could unlock, including loosening its content restrictions to stop fake accounts.

It’s an exciting time for Twitter users and a United fan replied begging him to own a football club: “Buy Manchester United, it’s small change. Just 4 billion.” While another added: “Please buy Manchester United next.” A third then continued: “Day 13 to ask Elon Musk to buy Man United.”

Another fan jokingly said, “While you’re at it can you buy Manchester United and make it even better? You’ll get free sponsorship on our match shirts. Boris will be buying your Tesla soon”, and another fan answered: “Manchester United FC is a viable business. You should buy the club because you will have no reason to regret it.”

‘Buy Manchester United’ was trending on Twitter, due to the number of fans asking the billionaire to buy the club from Old Trafford. Musk said after the deal was confirmed on Twitter: “Free speech is the foundation of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital public square where issues vital to the future of humanity are debated. .

“I also want to make Twitter better than ever by improving the product with new features, making algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating spambots and authenticating all humans. Twitter has huge potential – I can’t wait to work with the company and the user community to unlock it.”

The Red Devils have struggled this campaign under caretaker manager Ralf Rangnick, despite currently sitting sixth in the Premier League table. Fans are hoping that with the arrival of Ajax manager Erik ten Hag this summer there will be another breath of fresh air around the club.

A major rebuild is expected behind the scenes at Old Trafford under the new boss, who is committed to the club until the summer of 2025, with an option to extend for a further year. And a busy summer on the transfer front would also be expected.

But for now, fans will have to see the season in progress as United battle for a top-six place, granting European football next year. Rangnick’s side will face Chelsea at Old Trafford on Thursday night.
