It seems that the bond between the builders, architects and civic leaders of the Thane civic body in the city of Thane continues even as the ghosts of the Shil-Phata building crash still haunt the city.
A case was filed at Naupada Police Station by Mohammad Riyaz Isad Ahmad Ansari, Intekal Aalam Sheikh and thirteen others against the architect and builders who allegedly illegally built a project on the plaintiff’s property by falsifying signatures and documents from the original owners and also obtain approval from the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC).
According to plaintiff Mohammad Riyaz Ansari, “In 2021, the owners of MMR Reality approached the 13 owners who had their own shops on Shil Phata Road where the MMR Reality project is in full swing.”
“I was one of the owners of the store. We were told that we were going to have stores in the developed project and for that our stores had to be demolished. We were convinced by the promise of the builders and we said orally yes to the development Later, we realized that the architect named Sameer Lotake and Associates as well as the builders deceived us by falsifying our documents and signatures and also got approval from TMC and started the project without our permission,” said said Ansari.
He further added, “We have registered a case of cheating against architect Sameer Lotake and builders of MMR Reality at Naupada Police Station and we are awaiting action from the police officials. We have also approached the TMC with our complaints but still, no action has been initiated by the civic body.”
Senior Police Inspector of Naupada Police Station, Sanjay Dhumal, informed, “We have received the complaint from Mohammad Riyaz Ansari and 12 other complainants who were deceived by the architect and builders. The architect, Sameer Lotake, who runs an architectural firm, along with the builders falsified the documents and signatures and presented them to the TMC officials and got the approval for the development of the said project on Shil Phata road.”
“According to the complainants, the construction of the said project is still in full swing. Shortly after receiving the complaint, we proceeded with the action but Lotake and the builders are on the run. On June 6, there is a hearing in the “case in Thane court. The architect’s and builders’ solicitor has already applied for pre-arrest bail from the court prior to their arrest,” Inspector Dhuman added.
